Academics

At CCS, we are traditional in our approach to education. Our ministry is to train young people in the Bible, Christian character, language, and traditional subject matter.

Our students need to be trained in the way they should go (Prov. 22:6) so they will have a firm foundation from which to evaluate the present and make proper decisions for the future.

For this purpose, we use mostly A BEKA BOOK Publications, developed and refined over a period of more that forty years. For our math program we have incorporated the highly acclaimed Saxon Math Series. Computer classes, art, music and physical education are also important aspects of out total training at CCS.

Bible is the most important subject in the Christian school so it is taught daily and systematically to all students. Our goal is to provide students with a firm foundation for life and a shield against error. Chapel services and Christian service also provide opportunities for our students to serve the Lord and apply what they learn.

The school library contains excellent, well-chosen literature and reference materials, and is fully catalogued.

Other special activities at the school include:

  • Field trips
  • Missions Week
  • Outreach Projects
  • Spanish Classes taught by high school students
  • Christmas Program
  • 4 H Extension projects
  • Participation in "See You at the Pole"

"All your sons will be taught by the Lord and great will be your children’s peace." Isaiah 54:13

Stanford Achievement Tests

The Stanford Achievement Tests are given to Columbus Christian School students in grades 2-8 each year. The information below shows the percentile scores for each grade in each of the major subtest areas for the last three years.

Generally speaking, how does Christian school education compare academically with non-Christian schools?

“Year after year, standardized achievement test scores affirm that students taught by Christian school educators achieve well above the national norm. In fact, in twentyseven years of testing with the Stanford Achievement Test, our students have never achieved less than one full year ahead of the national norm. It is, indeed, a commendable record.”
