Staff

Tammie Awtry is the Administrative Assistant at CCS. Tammie and her husband, Phil have three children, Michael, Matthew and Hannah. They attend Highland Park Evangelical Free Church where they are involved in various ministries. Tammie enjoys cooking and scrapbooking.






Robbin Chin is the preschool teacher at CCS. Robbin earned her BS degree in Early Childhood Education / Human Development and the Family from UNL. She taught 5 years of Kindergarten in our building when it was a part of the Columbus Public Schools and has taught private piano lessons.

Robbin is married to Joe and they have 4 children, Elizabeth, who is married to Adam, Rachel, Amy and Aaron. They attend Columbus Berean Church. Robbin loves to crochet, quilt, write letters and play the piano.



Angela Danhauer is our 3rd & 4th grade teacher at CCS. She earned her BA degree in Elementary Education at Grace College of the Bible in Omaha, Nebraska. Angela taught previously at Shanan Christian School in Gibbon, Nebraska and Mitchell Christian School in Mitchell, South Dakota.

Angela grew up in Columbus, Nebraska and attends Highland Park Evangelical Free Church. She enjoys spending time with family.



Sandy Scheffler is the 1st & 2nd grade teacher at CCS. Sandy earned her BA Degree in Elementary Education at Sioux Falls University, and has studied at California State University, Biola University in LaMirada, CA, and various other colleges. Sandy taught previously at Summit County Christian School in Breckenridge, Com Dist. 48 Country School in Madison, NE, Southwest Baptist Church Child Development Center in Denver, CO, Tri-City Christian School in Kansas City, MO, Los Angeles City Schools in N. Hollywood, CA.

Sandy was raised in Platte and Madison Counties where many of her family members still live. She loves spending time with them and enjoys several hobbies including greeting card design, crafts, music, and reading. She attends Highland Park Evangelical Free Church.


Karin Schreurs is the 5th & 6th Grade teacher at CCS. Karin is a graduate of the University of Lincoln with her BA in Elementary Education and  completed her Masters in School Administration from UNK. She has taught in Hyannis Elementary School and Garfield Middle School. In addition, Karin has also been a substitute teacher for several years.

Karin and her husband Les have two sons who are both married. Ethan and his wife, Iva, live in Scottsbluff, NE. . Peter and his wife Katie live in Wauconda, IL. Karin is a psalmist and enjoys singing, praying, and playing guitar unto the Lord.


Kristin Tobiason is a part-time teacher for 7th & 8th grade at CCS.  Kristin received her Bachelor’s degree from Concordia College at Seward. Her teaching experience includes K-2 at Christ Lutheran in Columbus; 1st grade at Christ for the Nations Academy in Dallas; and private piano lessons. Kristin has also been a substitute teacher.

Kristin is married to Trent and they have 2 children, Tate and Kaylee, who also attend CCS. The Tobiason Family attends the Word of Life Church. Kristin enjoys family camping, reading, piano, scrapbooking and prayer walks with her dog, Jackie.


Jan Wieberdink is our Kindergarten teacher at CCS. She earned her BA degree in Elementary Education at Dordt College in Sioux Center, IA. She previously taught K-2 at Doon Christian School in Doon,IA and Chapter 1 in Sheboygan, WI.

Jan is married to Darrel and they have three children--Danielle, Adam and Nicole. The Wieberdink’s attend Highland Park Evangelical Free Church. Her hobbies include scrapbooking, reading and spending time with her family.


Cathy Weinmeister is a part-time teacher for 7th & 8th grade at CCS. Cathy received a Bachelor’s degree from Chadron State College and a Master’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado. Her teaching experience includes K-2 at Alliance; Pre-12 Special Education ESU#12 with Bayard Public Schools; and Special Education at Colfax District 5R. Cathy has also been a substitute teacher

Cathy is married to Erik and they have 3 children who attend CCS; Taylor, Collin and Zachary. The Weinmeister Family attends Highland Park Evangelical Free Church. Cathy enjoys spending time with family and friends, baking, reading, traveling and watching Husker Volleyball (GO TEAM!).


Kathy Wolfe is the administrator (head teacher) at Columbus Christian School. Kathy earned her Associates Degree from Central Community College and her BA in education with an endorsement in special education at Wayne State College. She taught first grade in our building when it was a part of the Columbus Public Schools for 5 years.

Kathy has three children – Rebecca, who is married to Ben, Bethany, who is married to Allen and Jonathan. She attends Highland Park Evangelical Free Church. She enjoys reading, walking, baking and spending time with family and friends.
